SOUL GARDEN

Hi, Im Jasmine, welcome to Soul Garden, my new digital home of Yoga, Qigong, Somatic movement, mindfulness and seasonal alignment ideas and practices. I welcome you all in with openness and warmth.

For many years I have been exploring and experimenting with ways in which I could best share the things that I had learnt and experienced over the last few years as a teacher and student of Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine and QiGong. Social media seemed the obvious platform to share knowledge and to reach likeminded people who may benefit from what there was to share, but it always felt limited and fleeting and I always knew I wanted to create a place where I could share all of my offerings in a way that was easy to navigate and could become a real resource to my community.

The many practices, ideas, forms, Asana, philosophies and myriad of disciplines can make the holistic world seem a little scary, far fetched or unapproachable, so what I want to do here is bring it all back to a place of simplicity and naturalness.

TCM has taught me so much over the last few years and one of the most profound messages I have received is the one from nature. “We are nature” is a statement you might have heard before and may have wondered, what does that really mean? How is it that I am nature? I know that I have certainly had that thought before I found my way here. Nature is that of which is natural, nature is what is alive, living, breathing, creating and surviving from the earth, you are another one of earths manifestations. We only have life because the planets conditions allow for our species to be animated here but if the conditions were different we would not exist. We are simply but magically an extension of nature.

Without the sun, earth, breath, water, fire, metals, trees and plants we would not exist for very long. Our entire system is one of elemental balance and when one competent wavers the whole system becomes off balance. For example, too much sun and not enough rain can cause extreme fires, this can destroy eco systems and in turn bring devastating effects to all.

Nature needs balance in order to thrive and it also needs collaboration. We are like tiny little universes, within us lays the same fabric of the universe and all the elements and seasons flow through us. We are a rhythm, an energy and a current and when we begin to fully understand ourselves as a part of everything else, align with the seasons and harmonise with the rest of the natural world we can begin to live to our highest potentials. It’s simple really, nature is our teacher and we should begin to look at ourselves like a garden, and just like any garden we must tend to ourselves, we must balance our energies and create the right conditions for us to grow, be joyful, find peace, let go and live a life of fulfilment.

So how can we do this? How can we live according to laws and cycles of natural? Well I certainly do not claim to have all the answers and living in full harmony is a lifestyle but what I hope to share here is some movement, breath and mindfulness practices along with seasonal living ideas that may guide you onto your path of natural alignment.

With Gratitude, Jaz

“Tend to the garden of your soul”

“Chinese cosmology sees the world as arising from the dynamism of yin-yang and the five primordial powers (wu de) or phases (wu xing). From the macrocosm to the microcosm, the organization of all natural phenomena is described by the five phase theory of systematic correspondence: as above, so below. The seasons, internal organs, body substances, mental faculties, and emotions mirror each other according to five lines of correspondence. People embody the same relationships within them that prevail in the universe at large. Just as the phases of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water organize Nature, so the five organ networks of the Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung, and Kidney organize human life.”
